Between the sacred Chyulu Hills and Kilimanjaro set in a Maasai Mara Ranch is the Chyulu Club located in Olpusane Spring. This is the first carbon-negative and zero emissions lodge in Africa.  Optional luxury stay include: Ol Donyo Camp and Campi ya Kanzi. 

The northern region of Tsavo West, close to the Chyulu Hills, is especially scenic with a drive up to some brilliant vantage point like Poachers Lookout, where you may see as far as Mount Kilimanjaro on a clear 

Amboseli National Park gives you the best backdrop of Mount Kilimanjaro whilst on a game viewing drive in the park, you have a chance to see herds of elephants, over 300 species of birds, buffaloes, spotted hyena, giraffe and cheetah to mention a few.

Itinerary

Met on arrival at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport off your early morning flight or from one of our partner Hotels in the City by our representative who will brief you and hand you over to our driver guide for your safari bound to Chyulu Hills -Campi ya Kanzi. This drive is 355kms (3hr 13min) towards Emali.
For more than 20 years, the camp was the only Kenya luxury safari lodge on a Maasai-owned reserve spanning 283,000 acres of pristine wilderness. On arrival, you will check-in and freshen up for lunch at Campi ya Kanzi the award-winning boutique eco-lodge in Ernest Hemingway’s “Green Hills of Africa”.
Afternoon game viewing drive in 283,000acres with the hills volcanic summits covered in rich green cloud forest, home to different array of trees, flowers, insects, birds, and mammals which includes zebra, giraffe, antelopes, predators like lions and leopards. Return to the camp for dinner and overnight.
Meals: lunch, dinner. Overnight at Campi ya Kanzi.

Morning wakeup call with tea or coffee, depart for an early morning game viewing drive. Rest of the day spent at leisure with optional activities like horseback riding, guided walks - hiking, night & day game viewing drives, cycling on the plains towards the Kopje or Emau famous for ‘log-pile’ hide, a secret shaded spot, young explorers’ program. Return to the Camp for dinner.

Early morning game viewing drive, return for breakfast, game viewing drive into Tsavo West National to Mzima Springs is a green oasis. Originating in the Chyulu Hills, it produces over 200 million liters of water a day, supplying the majority of Mombasa's freshwater.
There is an underground viewing station, where you can watch the Hippos walk along the rocky bottom of the springs, as well as primordial looking fish and crocs brave enough to enter hippo territory. A visit to Shetani Lava flow, Lunch at Kilaguni Serena Lodge, and depart for Finch Hatton’s 30.5km (1hr.5 min) drive arriving late afternoon, in a located of 10 million acres of pure, untouched wilderness of Tsavo West National Park. Check-in and dinner at the Camp.

Full day of different activities day and night game drives, bush walks in the endless plains home to lions, leopards, elephants, buffalos, cheetahs, gerenuks, wildebeests, oryx, bushbucks, elands, giraffes, hartebeests and impalas. Engage in a crater climb, bush breakfast, enjoy cultural visit and the young explorers Club.
Tsavo is a place of contrast of great variety, boasting of the largest biodiversity in the world, with numerous ecosystems and landscapes. It is famous for its 19th century man-eating lions, and for its references in the classic book and film, Out of Africa. Return for dinner.

Morning game viewing in the conservancy, return for breakfast, check out and drive back to Nairobi, a 4hr 52min (269.2 km) drive arriving for late lunch in Nairobi, subject to your outbound flight, we will transfer you to the Four Points by Sheraton for a day room and lunch. Transfer to your terminal for your outbound flight.

FAQs

Is the tap water safe for drinking on safari?

It is recommended not to drink tap water in any location but to drink the bottled water purchased at the hotels, lodge, and camps.

Is drinking water provided to guests’ whilst on safari?

Some of our partners provide kitted out with Maasai blankets and ponchos to keep you warm, sun cream, fridges filled with cold drinks, hot drinks, books and sweets whilst on safari.

How many days is recommended for this safari in each park?

A minimum of 5 days and 4 nights is ideal to fully enjoy and explore the rich biodiversity of the area.

Do the lodges, Camps and Hotels have Wi-Fi & cellphone reception?

Campi ya Kanzi has no wi-fi in the cottages, however Internet is available in the office for urgent matters. Cellphone reception is in scattered areas around the camp with good reception in Il-Tilal village.
Finch Hattons has complimentary Wi-Fi throughout the camp and the Mobile phone reception is clear in most areas.

Which months are best to go on this safari?

Family safaris are best when children are on holiday between late May – late June, and early August – early September, and the festive period 22nd December – 8th January.

Group safaris vary as per budget as the green season begins March – end of June, those who wish to see the Great Migration between July – October.

During and after the rainy season in April, May and November is said to be very pleasant months at Campi ya Kanzi as its green everywhere with high population of elephants.

What is the recommended tipping or gratuities to the safari driver guide, porter, staff or waiters/waitresses whilst on safari?

Please see below recommended guideline which is at your discretion.
Safari driver guide per day, per vehicle $10 – $40 per person.
Restaurant waiter/waitresses per meal $1.50 – $2.00 per person
Porter per bag $ 0.50 – $1.50 per person

Uganda guidelines for tipping:
Trekking porters $10per person
Waiters/Waitress 10% of consumption
Restaurant staff $2.00 per person per meal, at your discretion.

What happens for a person on special diet?

We have partnered with lodges and camps who have meals in place for continental cuisine, vegetarian, kosher, halal, gluten-free diet. However, we request you indicate the dietary requirement at the time of booking.

When is a booking considered reserved?

Terms of reservations and payments based on seasons:

Booking during the green season (7th January – 15th June, 1st November – 21st December) done between 42days prior to the guest’s proposed arrival date, and reservations made less than 42 days prior to the proposed date of arrival, such bookings will only be confirmed upon receipt of a 100% pre-payment.

Bookings during the migration season (16th June – 31st October) and festive season (22nd December – 8th January) full payment is due not later than 60 days prior to the guests’ arrival date on all hotels, lodges and Camps.
