Overview
Saruni Mara is the only small, boutique lodge in the Mara, with five elegant cottages, one family villa and one private villa. The lodge is nestled in a secluded valley in the heart of the most exciting wilderness in Africa, intimate and exclusive. Saruni Mara is open all year round and welcomes children of all ages. Please note that young children can participate in regular game drives at the lodge manager’s discretion only.
The Lodge prefers to provide you with a suitable hair-dryer on your arrival should you require one as the 3-point British plugs are used. Complimentary Wi-Fi is available throughout the lodge, should you encounter any problems gaining access please inform lodge management. A computer is also available for guest’s use.
Mara North Conservancy is a beautiful private wilderness area of more than 68,732 acres. It forms the north-western zone, bordering the Masai Mara National Reserve in the south of Kenya. The Masai Mara is famous for its unique concentration of wildlife, birds, rich vegetation and open savannah.

This Lodge has an exclusive location in the secluded hills of the Mara North Conservancy. Guests’ are guided by Masaai Warriors who are knowledgeable to customs, landscape and wildlife. The lodge provides the local Masaai people with jobs, income, training and guidance.
Mara North Conservancy has the highest density of predator’s and plain game in the World. The unique Warrior program – ‘Warrior Academy’ where guests spend a few days learning the survival skills of the revered Maasai warriors – taking part in teaching in the same way as a junior warrior learns to track animals and craft tools on the plains of the Masai Mara, and academy great for the family.

The Observatory themed cottage makes you dream of vast, star-lit African skies. Has a vintage brass telescope, moon map and selection of interesting material on all things cosmic, beautifully furnished and spacious – king size bed (twin or double), with a large front deck for relaxing in the day and star gazing at night.
The Love Shack is the perfect romantic retreat, simple and elegantly designed for hours of relaxation. Secluded cottage, known as Saruni Mara’s Honeymoon Suite, has elegant furnishings and beautiful antiques create a feeling of classic elegance and romance. The bedroom is very spacious with a king size bed and opens out onto a large verandah with a magnificent view of the valley of the Masai plains – the perfect private dining area.
The Photographer’s Studio is inspired by imagery and decorated to the theme of life through the lens. Beautifully-furnished cottage, spacious, with king size bed (twin or double), in a large bedroom, en-suite bathroom and outdoor verandah overlooking the beautiful view. Tribute to the decades of incredible photography of the marvel of the Great Migration and the Masai Mara has produced.
The Artist’s Studio; an elegant sanctuary for the creative soul, and the perfect place to find inspiration. With a stylishly decorated en suite bedroom, one king size double bed and can add an extra single bed, has an open veranda, with beautiful views over the secluded valley and the Mara plains in the distance.
The Literary Room; an ideal hideaway for thinkers, dreamers and writers, inspired by great stories of African adventures and discovery. This cottage is classic and more than comfortable, equipped with a vintage typewriter, leather reading chairs, writing desk with a brass reading lamp, quill pen and leather blotter, guests can experience and create their own safari story. The beautiful, spacious en-suite bedroom with king size bed, open up onto a large verandah, a perfect reading perch for the afternoon. The Natural History Suite is the family villa, this stylish new villa has two en-suite bedrooms can accommodate (1 x twin + 1 dbl/2 dbls in king size beds, an extra bed can be added) a large lounge complete with dining area and big fireplace.
There is a large verandah overlooking the magnificent scenery of the Masai Mara, decorated with a selection of antique and vintage prints. Relevant reading material such a books on mammals, reptiles, trees and birds are available.
