Overview

Lewa House is set on top of a hill with an engaging panoramic view of the rolling landscape of the Conservancy, overlooking the luggas (valleys) and hills, with the horizon rising to the eye-catching views of the Mathews range and the sacred mountain of the Samburu, Ol Lolokwe.

Accommodation is in the form of cottage rooms, spread out along the hillside, looking at the expanse of wilderness to the north. The 3 original thatched family cottages, each comprising of two en-suite rooms and a large shared veranda. The 4th recently added single room cottages is built with sustainable, ecological principles in mind, whilst still being exceptionally comfortable and spacious.

The heart of the House is a large elegant building, the open fireplace at one end allows guests to relax during the day and mingle with a drink before dinner and the other side is a large family dining table, where evening meals are served, hosted by Calum and Sophie Macfarlane.

A large shaded verandah extends away from the main house with a comfortable seating area for guests’ to enjoy a cool afternoon drink, the beautiful shaded gardens surround the house where breakfast or lunch is often served on the lawn. The house has a large swimming pool overlooking a waterhole which provides some of the best game viewing on Lewa!

Children of all ages are welcome, for younger children’s child care, kindly advice on booking as may incur extra charge.

Uniqueness of this Camp

The House is located in the very heart of the malaria free Lewa Wildlife Conservancy and is an owner run lodge offering unique access to all corners of this world renowned conservation area. By staying at the House you give direct contribution to Lewa Wildlife Conservancy.

With a range of authentic activities guests are able to unlock and understand what is being achieved here and what the wide range of ecosystems provides in regards to the naturally rich wildlife experience.

3 family cottages (2 adjoining ensuite rooms – 1 double and 1 twin) 4 individual ensuite cottages (Earth pods) maximum number of guests’ 18 people.

The lodge terrain is flat, to allow wheelchair access, but there are no special facilities for physically challenged guests’. Mosquito nets, pure cotton linen, dressing gowns, room safe, square pin plug sockets, torch and drinking water. Shower gel, shampoo, conditioner, soap, laundry detergent (for under garments), towels, make-up mirror.
