Overview

Nestled in a forest glade at the foot of Uarges Mountain, the Sarara Treehouses emerge from the ancient forest canopy, the 8 tents, built on a platform in the tree canopy give a unique experience of wildlife walking underneath. Established in August 2016 in Namunyak Community Conservancy within the 850,000-acre – now Ngilai, Kalepo, and Nalowuon Conservancies, home to some of the largest elephant populations in the region. This truly unique tree lodge encompasses the atmosphere and vibrancy that Sarara has become renowned for, whilst offering an incredible platform to experience the abundance of wildlife and rich Samburu culture of the Matthews Range. This conservancy is home to over 450 reticulated giraffes, the critically endangered Grévy Zebra, and a host of other species, including the fabled Gerenuk. Accessible via Private charters into Namunyak airstrip, Scheduled flight with Safarilink or Air Kenya to Kalama and from Kalama, approx. 1.5 hrs. drive to Sarara. This all-inclusive Eco lodge is the perfect hideaway for anyone seeking an extraordinary African escape. Opened in 2018, the camp is approx. 800 meters above sea level, perched among hundreds of indigenous trees, Sarara Treehouses, a bird and wildlife enthusiast’s dream – not to mention the fauna and flora! Sarara Treehouses was built using natural materials from the area, the Treehouses are off-the-grid, a solar-powered lodge that is single-use-plastic free, and entirely eco-friendly, with every precaution and expense taken to preserve the natural habitat surrounding it. Total of 8 luxury tents, 2 of which are close together (not interconnected) making a Family Unit. Sarara Tree has six tents (all of which can be configured to be either double or twin) with an ensuite bathroom (lavatory and hand basin) and an adjacent shower open to the skies within Sarara-style walls. Every tent has a deck with a seating area by day that can also be a stunning star bed by night. Raised walkways through the canopy connect the tents to the reception area. The family tents at Sarara Tree comprise two tents that are close together (not interconnected) and work well for families with younger children (8 years and above). One tent is a double and the other a twin which is a slightly smaller tent. Both are ensuite (lavatory and hand basin) with an outside shower open to the skies within Sarara-style walls. Lodge Terrain’s not suitable for people with limited mobility, Dining can be private or communal, camp is closed in November. Fresh, healthy meals are prepared to meet every dietary need, showcasing regional produce blended with Samburu flair, and honey is sourced from the Samburu honey gatherers who live in the Matthews Range.

All meals and beverages are included during your stay and meet every dietary need, Soft drinks, local beers, non-premium wines, and spirits are included, eight tented rooms with indoor toilets and outdoor, solar-heated showers, one family room with joined walkway, catering for a family of 4 and children aged 6 years and older are welcome, No mosquito nets, No hair dryers.
