Overview

Sabyinyo Silverback Lodge is located close to the headquarters of the Volcanoes National Park from where clients trek on foot to see the magnificent Mountain Gorilla, being Rwanda’s first ever community owned lodge, built and operated by Governors’ Camp Collection. The lodge is located close to the headquarters of Volcanoes National Park from where clients trek on foot to see the gorillas. Situated in the foothills of the mighty Virunga’s, the chain of 15,000 ft volcanoes stretching through Rwanda, Uganda and the Democratic Republic of Congo, Sabyinyo offers wonderful views of the volcanoes and the surrounding countryside. Accommodation at the Lodge comprises six cottages, two suites, one family cottage. All stone buildings with Rwandese terracotta tile roofs, feature large sitting areas, fireplaces, stylish en-suite bathrooms and a sheltered veranda.  Three large fireplaces provide warmth while two patio areas afford wonderful and dramatic views to the Virunga Volcanoes and the surrounding countryside. We welcome children in the lodge, Please note that children under the age of 15 are not permitted to visit the gorillas.

A classic safari lodge, the original Sabyinyo Silverback Lodge is one of the oldest residences in Rwandan safari experiences.

Accommodation

Six cottages, two suites and one family cottage. All cottages are extremely spacious and private, comprising sheltered veranda, sitting room with fireplace, bedroom, dressing room and bathroom. The family cottage comprises two independent ensuite rooms connected by a shared verandah. Wi-Fi is available at the main lodge and in all the guest cottages and suites

Snug reading area, souvenir shop, reception and fire side seating area. Dining room and outside terrace with views of the volcanoes, range of ‘Cinnabar Green’ toiletries (shampoo, conditioner, shower gel, soap and body lotion) in the rooms, the lodge is connected to the national grid which generally provides a reliable service. In the event of power outages the lodge is equipped with a powerful generator which will take over to provide power 24 hours a day, a range of spa treatments, Breakfast is a continental and full English buffet. Lunch and dinner is a set menu served in the main dining room, Room service is available on request, Laundry is arranged daily at no extra cost, please pack your own water bottle which can be refilled, Visa and MasterCard are accepted, Helicopter transfers available on request.
