Overview

Mwiba Lodge overlooks a rocky gorge on the Arugusinyai River, located in a private 129,530-acre wildlife reserve adjoining the Southern Serengeti, and due to the rocky undulating nature of the site of this Lodge, it is recommended that children younger than 10 years of age stay in the adjoining suite without an older sibling, parent or adult.    Mwiba is both intimate and exclusive. Built amongst massive stone boulders and surrounded by ancient coral trees and acacias with 10 double or Twin tented suites, each has an en suite bathroom with a soaking tub, and indoor and outdoor showers. The tented suites are identical in their layout. For guests traveling together who wish to be accommodated close to each other, this lodge will only accommodate guests in one party at the adjoining pairs of suites.    4 Fly camping Tents are also available. The lodge guests’ have free access to Maswa Game Reserve allows clients to roam further afield, and for anyone staying three nights or more, entry to Ndutu or Southern Serengeti is complimentary   Children in a triple room use the sofa in the lounge area of the tented suite, which may be used as an additional single bed (ages 15 or younger) with a portable mosquito net hung over it. A portable cot is available for an infant of 2 years or younger. It comes with a fitted mosquito net.

Uniqueness of this Camp

One of Mwiba’s guides is an interlocutor, the Hadzabe can demonstrate their tradition of bow-and-arrow making, and share their folklore and history. The Hadzabe are a hunter-gatherer tribe indigenous to the area and guests have the incredibly special opportunity to accompany them for a morning as they move through the wilderness, foraging for food and following honey-guide birds to sweet treats.

10 resplendent tented suites of which 2 pairs are adjoining, Bed configuration in King / Twin – the bed area is encompassed generously by a linen mosquito net,  Air conditioning, Mosquito nets and repellant, Bath or shower, Twin vanity, Mini bar, Safe, Telephone, Hairdryer, Laundry – Light laundry service included (excludes delicates). Adjoining Suites: out of the ten suites are suitable for guests who are traveling together. Suite #2 Mbili and #3 Tatu connect as do #8 Nane and #9 Tisa. The raised decks at these particular tented adjoining suites are connected by wooden walkways to allow access between the suites, making it easy for guests with young children, between Suite Mbili and Suite Tatu are not suitable for toddlers. The connection between Suite Nane and Suite Tisa is comparatively closer with a wooden doorway providing access through a stone privacy wall linking the decks directly. Children of all ages are welcome. 4 rooms Fly-camping: Guests staying at Mila Tented Camp or Mwiba Lodge can pay extra for this very adventurous, private, and unique experience of a night under the stars in the luxurious fly-camp. It an easy to get off the grid, and immerse yourself into the ecosystem at ground level, surrounded by wilderness, and break from technology. Booked on a private basis, sitting under the stars at night after a bucket shower with warm water, long drop loo, and excellent meal as you enjoy each other’s company and listen to the night sounds.
