El Korian’s Mugie Camp

Location: Mugie Ranch Mugie Conservancy, Laikipia County, Kenya

Overview

This Camp offers the vision that Josh and Donna had when they built the camp: a retreat from the fast-paced hustle and bustle of the ‘real world’, and a reconnection with nature. Innovative design, eco-friendly and blending into the environment, enabling you to feel immersed in the vivid details that surround you – the sights, the sounds, the smells. As a home away from home, the whole family is catered for, including a wide range of activities. The Camp has six accommodation tents (each raised on wooden decks and covered with a papyrus roof), a communal mess tent for sitting and dining, a reception area, a shady deck adjoining the swimming pool (overlooking a watering hole), dotted along a grassy lawn with native aloe and flower beds. Surrounded by a stone wall and electric fence, allowing you to walk around camp, and children to play safely, without a worry.

Uniqueness of this Camp

An eco-conscious and a ‘silver’ eco rated by the Kenya eco-tourism board. The Camp uses solar power (No hairdryers or electric razors can be used),  every effort have been made  to minimize the use of plastic products (do not supply bottled water, instead rainwater is collected, boiled and filter for drinking. A supply is available of reusable water bottles on the game drives and in the rooms. All of the toiletries supplied in the rooms are organic and locally made, and the items that we sell in our camp shop are locally produced (most of them in support of a good cause – including beadwork made in collaboration with our own charity, The Moyo Foundation).

Accommodation

Six accommodation tents (each raised on wooden decks and covered with a papyrus roof). Each of the tents is en-suite with shower and hot running water and flush toilets, and can be configured to be a twin or double arrangement. Tent 1 is nearest to the mess Tent 6 both have a kids’ annex which is perfect for families and has a kids’ annex, so it is perfect for families, Balcony / Deck, Laundry service (Available), Laundry Service (Complimentary), Safe, Verandah.

Activities

Volleyball, bird watching, traditional archery, spear throwing, lawn games, and our trampoline and fresh water, chemical-free swimming pool. Game viewing drives of Big 5, Catch-and-release Fishing, Elephant Interaction, Fishing, Guided Game Walks, Golf, Kayaking followed by picnic lunch, Night Game Viewing Drives.
