Overview

Chimpundu Lodge is 309 km from Kampala, just a short driving distance from the entrance to the chimpanzee tracking station, and in the heart of the re-known Kibale National Park in western Uganda in Fort Portal. Kibale National Park (formerly Kibale Forest National Park)

Chimpundu is a combination of two words; Chimp (for chimpanzee) and Mpundu (which is the Runyankole Rukiga local dialect meaning for chimpanzee). “Home of the Primates” also known as the primate capital of the world is the best place for chimpanzee trekking in Uganda and is home to the largest number of chimpanzees in the country.

The forest has one of the highest primate diversity in Africa, totaling 13 species, including the red, black, and white Colobus monkeys, blue monkeys, grey-cheeked Mangabey, red-tailed monkey, L’Hoest monkey, bush baby, and Potto.

This privately owned Lodge offers 18 luxury cottages, providing true Kibale Forest ambiance, and a perfect view of wildlife right from your own private deck. Here you enjoy the sound of nature in the background, the rustling of the African trees, and the twinkling stars as you relax in your cottage.

Every comfort is catered for, a spacious dressing room, en-suite bathrooms, and private sundecks, all equipped with modern amenities, including fans, Wi-Fi (High-speed Wireless Internet), mini-bar, hairdryer, tea and coffee making facilities, blankets are available for the chilly months, and children of all ages are welcome.

The facilities at the lodge include a bar, restaurant, an outdoor swimming pool with a gazebo, Spa Treatment, and enjoy your favorite channel on Satellite TV in the lounge. For any teambuilding or strategic meetings, a range of boardroom facilities is available.

Indulge yourself in a private candlelit dinner with a glass of one of the lodge’s award-winning wines around a bonfire or surprise your partner with a celebratory bottle of bubbly to enjoy in your own private plunge pool whilst the sun sets over the reserve.
