Emboo River Camp Tent

Location: Masaai Mara National Reserve, Narok County, Kenya

Overview

During a dinner in the Maasai Mara in 2018, Loïc Amadò, William Santian and Valery Super spoke about their frustrations regarding the status quo of the safari industry, wanting to see unique wildlife, while negatively contributing to the ecosystem through polluting vehicles, solid waste, and untreated wastewater leaking into the soil… It did not make sense.

Going on a safari in the Maasai Mara and only leaving a positive impact behind is possible. A few months after this dinner, Loïc, William and Valery opened their own lodge:  Emboo River!

Hidden in a forest along a river, Emboo River is positioned in the heart of Kenya’s Maasai Mara. It is the perfect spot to explore this spectacular ecosystem and spot all its wildlife. There are animals roaming all around the lodge and sometimes even within Emboo River.

Emboo River offers guests a unique safari experience of luxury, relaxation, educational as well as fully eco-friendly, sustainable and community focused. Essential to the Camp’s operations it runs independent of external factors. Everything the Camp needs to run its operations is found locally within the Maasai Mara.

All we need is in the Maasai Mara and all we give back stays in the Maasai Mara.  This is Emboo River’s Closed Loop System. Emboo’ is the Maasai word for ‘a pride’ and every part of the Emboo River experience is guided by a commitment to do right for the community and environment.

At Emboo River you can enjoy a unique experience, including silent safaris in solar powered vehicles, dinner under the stars without a generator humming in the background, delicious meals with organic ingredients prepared on biogas, rain showers overlooking nature and knowing that every drop of water is filtered and reused, and so much more.

Uniqueness of this Camp

Emboo River is a God Eco-rated and proud to have the first full fleet of Electric Safari Vehicles in the East Africa. The Electric Safari Vehicles are silent, 100% solar powered, can take our guests on full day game drives and are more powerful than its ICE (Internal Combustion Engine) version.

Emboo River is committed to fully rely on Solar Power. The high tech solar panels, at the Camp can generate green energy for lights, charging of guests’ phones & even for charging our Electric Safari Vehicles. All guest rooms have power 24/7 and international chargers.

Emboo River’s guests enjoy warm showers in their rooms thanks to solar heaters. Gravity lets water flow through the heaters and the sun does the rest of the work. Every heater stores 200 liters of warm water for 72 hours.

Together with AGUAINC, a company which is reshaping the future of water waste management. AGUAINC uses indigenous plants to treat waste water. AGUAINC optimized this process through its
innovative ABIS (Aquatic Biological Integrated Systems) water-treatment method. The ABIS filters water through matrices of floating plants.
