Cloud Gorilla Mountain Lodge bedroom

Location: Nyalutembe, Bwindi, Uganda.

Overview

In a remote, beautiful, and intimate location sitting over 2,000 meters above sea level Uganda’s highest lodge. On a forested ridge near the entrance to Bwindi Impenetrable Forest, Clouds Mountain Gorilla Lodge boasts eight spacious cottages built from volcanic stone, and every cottage has a large room with a fireplace, vast overstuffed armchairs, and hand-woven carpets.

Clouds Mountain Gorilla Lodge is a Community Conservation project, established as a partnership between Wildplaces, the AWF (Africa Wildlife Foundation), the IGCP (International Gorilla Conservation Programme), and the local community of Nkuringo.

Guests at Clouds stay in their own cottages, with comfortable chairs on the outdoor verandas providing the perfect vantage point to admire the unforgettable vistas of the forest below and spectacular views stretch all the way to the Virunga Volcanoes of Rwanda, as well as across the border into the Congo, where the glow of Nyiragongo Volcano can be seen on a clear night.

Each cottage features a bedroom, ensuite bathroom with a walk-in shower, and separate lounge. Comfortable chairs on the outdoor verandas provide the perfect vantage point to admire the unforgettable vistas of the forest below. Blazing fireplaces create a cosy glow as evening falls.

The main lodge hosts a Reception, lounge with   Wi-Fi access, a dining area, and a balcony that feels like someplace else – soaring ceilings, massive exposed wooden beams, and big picture windows with endless views of treetops, volcanoes, and mountains.

Modern, it feels like a ski chalet in the alps or a stone palace in the Rocky Mountains. But with the gentle and warm welcome, the quiet dedication of the personal butlers, and the smiles on the faces of virtually all the staff.
